Definition of basic component: Identification of a party by use of a code other than the Global Location Number

Message-specific definition: N/A

Usage rule: Only one primary party identifier is used for each party. If an alternate identifier, other than GLN is used, there is no guarantee of data integrity across the process. It is the responsibility of the company electing the choice to ensure data integrity.
