Definition of basic component: Party containment provides functionality to identify other GLNs associated with the primary party identification and/or at the next lower level.
Message-specific definition: N/A
Usage rule: 1. It is recommended that only GLNs be used in party containment.
2. Only one primary party identifier is used for each party. If an alternate identifier, other than GLN is used, there is no guarantee of data integrity across the process. It is the responsibility of the company electing the choice to ensure data integrity.
3. Party containment provides a method of identifying organizational relationships and hierarchies for geographic, functional or legal entities of an organization such as corporate headquarters, distribution centers, stores, and store departments.  As indicated in the Class Diagram for Party Containment, the hierarchy supports associating multiple children with a single parent.
