Introduction
The key aspect of the GS1 DataBar 2010 Program is the GS1 DataBar Readiness Report. GS1 is maintaining a Readiness Report to measure the percentage of scanners of the Top-100 retailers that are GS1 DataBar compliant. We hope to see that 70% of the total scanners of the Top-100 retailers are GS1 DataBar-compliant by May 2007; 80% by May 2008 and 90% by May 2010.
Scanner Test Cards
To test scanners for GS1 DataBar compliance, we've created printed Scanner Test Cards. Retailers can use these cards to see if the GS1 DataBar functionality of their scanners has already been activated or not. Please note: this is NOT a card that can be used to 'switch on' GS1 DataBar scanning capability. Actually enabling the GS1 DataBar scanning capability is a job for retailers' equipment supplier. This test card is quite simply a card for testing whether the GS1 DataBar capability is present.
How to receive Scanner Test Cards?
All retailers should contact their local GS1 Member Organisation, in which your headquarters are located. The GS1 Member Organisaton will provide them to you. Otherwise please send an e-mail to gs1databar.testcard@gs1.org. You need to state in your e-mail clearly:
- Name of the company
- Country of origin (where your Head Quarters are located)
- First and last name of contact person
- Job function of contact person
- E-mail address of contact person
- Phone number of contact person
- Number of Scanner Test cards you like to receive
How does the Scanner Test Card work?
To understand how to test your scanners within your company for GS1 DataBar Readiness we have created a set of procedures for your to follow:
