Market Place this year was held on the afternoon of Tuesday February 23 in the “Clarity + Vision Suite” on the 8th Floor of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Brussels. The 24 different stands were all excellent demonstrations of how GS1 is moving from vision to action.

GS1 Traceability: Do you speak GTC?

Visitors to the Traceability stand celebrated the Year of the Tiger with updates on the latest developments of the Global Traceability Conformance Program and more detailed information about the Chinese food traceability program.

Upstream Integration: GUSI

It was popcorn and a movie for visitors to this stand, who were able to know more about why a growing number of GS1 MOs are having GS1 Upstream Integration (GUSI) in their Business Plan. Attendees gave “Simple as GUSI” two thumbs up.

GS1 AIDC United

“GTIN and Beyond - the future of AIDC” was the theme of this stand. Visitors played FIFA Football (…that’s soccer for our North American friends…) on a Nintendo Wii and took away toy footballs for their children.

 

GS1 Ireland in action

Our Irish colleagues showed the work they have accomplished with GS1 DataBar and MobileCom on their stand.

GS1 eCom in action

Visitors to this stand got a closer look at a real implementation of eCom via GS1 Hong Kong’s ezTRADE collaborative platform.

 

Transport & Logistics: Moving forward!

This stand was full of examples of implementation of the GS1 Standards in this sector from different countries and companies, and visitors took away a copy of a brand new brochure detailing these case studies. Special guest on the stand was GS1 Peru with their Business case of Dinet and LG on the Intelligent Distribution and Transport.

The New GSMP

Visitors here were encouraged to “take the leap” to the GSMP and its a new integrated and improved processes designed to benefit all GS1 users. Actual leaping took place as well … or at least on a Wii ski jumping game.

GS1 Spain in action

Visitors to this stand saw some of the many ways GS1 Spain is committed to helping companies to implement Standards and how the team provides added value services.

GS1 Germany in action

GS1 Germany has merged EPC and GLN licenses to form the new GS1 Complete and were invited to check the usability of the team’s English-language training program “Category Management Basics – International.”

GS1 Hungary in action

CODE, GS1 Hungary’s in-house developed virtual knowledge base, was the star of this stand.

GS1 New Zealand in action

Hardhat-wearing Kiwis welcome visitors and showed them how to transform GS1’s building blocks into services for members: they called it ‘the GS1 House of Services.’

GS1 Syria in action

Visitors to this stand got an up-close look at HIPPOKRATE, GS1 Syria’s Global Medicine Reference Software System, and a comprehensive source of information on drugs

GS1 US in action

As visitors to this stand saw, GS1 US has many programs underway to build a visible, secure and sustainable value chain.

The 2010 General Assembly in Kuala Lumpur

As hosts of the GS1 General Assembly 2010, GS1 Malaysia representatives used their stand to share gifts and information about Kuala Lumpur and demonstrate the warm hospitality of Malaysians.

GS1 in Europe in action

GS1 in Europe, the regional collaboration of 45 GS1 MOs, is working to share their vision and their values.

GS1 Australia and GS1 Canada in action

From opposite sides of the Pacific, GS1 Australia and GS1 Canada showed how the GS1 System of standards can be leveraged in real world applications, such as GS1 Product Recall. GS1 Canada launched GS1 Product Recall in November 2009. GS1 Australia is scheduled to follow suit in June 2010.

GS1 MobileCom in action

There was a lot going on at this stand which greeted visitors just as they entered the main room. Visitors could see examples and demonstrations of Extended Packaging, get a copy of the "Mobile in Retail" White Paper hot off the presses; pick up a variety of marketing materials and stick a pin in a world map to signal interest in participating in GS1 MobileCom Day on 15 June 2010.

GS1 France in action

Properly topped with authentic French berets, the GS1 France team showed a variety of their recent accomplishments and implementations.

Global Product Classification: the GPC Browser

As they discovered the GPC browser and how allows you to browse all components (Segment, Family, Class, Brick and Attribute) of the GPC schemas in 6 different languages, visitors here also had the opportunity to win an iPod Touch.

 

Data quality and data synchronization

Visitors here were able to learn more about GDSN Implementation and the results of the Data Quality Challenge and about how GDSN and DQF can help your members to improve their master data manage- ment processes.

GS1 Healthcare

The key takeaway message for visitors to this stand: The time has come for MOs to support the adoption and implementation of GS1 standards across the healthcare supply chain.

GS1 EPCglobal

From their location in the antechamber to the main room, the EPCglobal team showed how the network enables businesses to maximize efficiency and profitability by allowing for real-time reaction to problems within the supply chain. Their “Smart Shelf” demo was particularly popular

MO Support

MO Support covers a range of activities specifically designed to support MOs in their work with users. In 2010, the focus will be on MO Helpdesk; on sharing great MO ideas and best practices; and on training and Education material, process and development.
