The GS1 General Assembly is where key decisions for the organisation’s future are made. In view of its key role in the governance procedure charged with both formulating the organisation’s strategic direction and monitoring its global performance, the GA is attended by key industry players and key global decision-makers of global companies and GS1 Member Organisations within the GS1 Community from over 70 countries. In addition, the GS1 Management Board Members meet at this time. The GS1 General Assembly (GA) is also a major event for networking with the GS1 Community at a very executive level and is hosted by a different Member Organisation every year, this year by GS1 Colombia.

The last Healthcare Day with more than 100 participants was successfully hosted by GS1 Austria for the first time in 2011. Now the event goes in its second round this autumn. The global Healthcare user group convenes two times per year in a ‘GS1 Healthcare Conference’, bringing together all Healthcare supply chain stakeholders, including manufacturers, distributors, healthcare providers, associations and regulators. Experts and opinion leaders share their insights on Auto-ID, traceability or data management during the plenary sessions; every participant can also contribute to the global standards development process during the work team sessions; last, but not least it is an opportunity to network with other stakeholders. About 180 participants join in each conference, which is being hosted in the different regions worldwide.
