LCNP Contacts
GS1 operates the Global Standards Management Process (GSMP), the GS1 Collaborative Forum for standards development. The key to the success of GSMP is the collaboration of User Companies, Member Organizations (MO), and GS1 Staff to bring about a solution that reflects the input of the broadest possible community. LCNP Contacts form a bridge between global and local activity.
The LCNP Contact is the “go-to” person in a GS1 Member Organisation for all GSMP activities, methods and communications. The LCNP Contact identifies and disseminates relevant information appropriately throughout their MO and assists associates in navigating published GSMP communications such as Newsletters and Management Reports and weekly communications. These types of communications should be of interest to all MO employees and MO member companies.
The LCNP Contact is also responsible for assisting new GSMP members within their MO with the GSMP
Membership on-boarding process. They have access to GSMP documentation and self-paced
training that is targeted to new GSMP members. They are responsible for communicating the more “granular” work related communications (e.g., new code values, new GTIN rules or validation rules, etc.) and detailed communications (via eBallots, and Meeting Minutes) to all of their colleagues and members who join the GSMP groups. These communications are easily accessible via the GS1 Community Room.
It is therefore advised that the MO has one LCNP Contact in each GSMP group. This LCNP Contact does not have to be active by participating on the phone calls, they only need to join and opt-in to the group to receive emails keeping them abreast of activities within that group.
