Ms. Kathryn E. Wengel, Worldwide Supply Chain Vice President, Management Committee Member of Johnson & Johnson (J&J), shared the challenges in the healthcare supply chain and outlined the company’s actions for achieving traceability. J&J has taken action using global GS1 standards for the identification and marking of drugs and medical devices, product data exchange and traceability.
Ms. Wengel pointed out that benefits derived from a single system of standards cannot be realised when multiple “standards” are used. Therefore, J&J supports a global, harmonised system and approach in order to improve patient safety and supply chain efficiency.
