Ontario Chamber of Commerce recommends GS1 standards

Canada’s groundswell of interest in implementing healthcare standards is growing with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s (OCC) recent recommendation for GS1 standards.
GS1 standards were identified as being fundamental to improving the healthcare sector’s ability improve patient safety, organisational performance and overall value in the group’s Healthcare Transformation: An Action Plan for Ontario report.

The OCC is a major business advocacy group representing more than 60,000 members across Canada’s most populated province. Their support will help encourage the development of government and health sector action plans aimed at achieving the goals set out by the OCC.
Support for healthcare standards within Canada has been growing. Several provinces have also started advancing healthcare standards implementation, including a major project to advance the adoption of healthcare standards by Alberta Healthcare Services.
With momentum towards standards building across the country, Canada may soon receive a clean bill of health.
