GS1 DataBar (RSS) Readiness Report
IntroductionThe key aspect of the GS1 DataBar 2010 Program is the GS1 DataBar Readiness Report. GS1 is maintaining a Readiness Report to measure the percentage of scanners of the Top-100 retailers that are GS1 DataBar compliant. We hope to see that 70% of the total scanners of the Top-100 retailers are GS1 DataBar-compliant by May 2007; 80% by May 2008 and 90% by May 2010. Scanner Test CardsTo test scanners for GS1 DataBar compliance, we've created printed Scanner Test Cards. Retailers can use these cards to see if the GS1 DataBar functionality of their scanners has already been activated or not. Please note: this is NOT a card that can be used to 'switch on' GS1 DataBar scanning capability. Actually enabling the GS1 DataBar scanning capability is a job for retailers' equipment supplier. This test card is quite simply a card for testing whether the GS1 DataBar capability is present. How to receive Scanner Test Cards? If you are a Top-100 Retailer, you will be contacted by your local GS1 Member Organisation, in which your headquarters are located. The GS1 MO will provide you with the Scanner Test Card(s). If you are NOT a Top-100 Retailer, you should request Scanner Test Card(s) by sending an e-mail to gs1databar.testcard@gs1.org. You need to state in your e-mail clearly:
As a retailer you need to make sure you get your Scanner Test Card(s) so you can test your scanning equipment for GS1 DataBar Readiness, and report back with the results so we can maintain the Readiness Report up to date. How does the Scanner Test Card work?To understand how to test your scanners within your company for GS1 DataBar Readiness we have created a set of procedures for your to follow: How to report your results? After you have completed the tests you should add your results to the GS1 DataBar Readiness Report via our online survey: Any questions?Questions on the GS1 DataBar Readiness Report?
