GPC Leadership Team

This permanent group is composed of Retailers, Suppliers, and Others (GS1 MOs, etc.), who are nominated by members of the BRG and elected via an official vote.
Key roles of the leadership team include:

• GPC Program Management
• GPC BRG governance and business management
• Voting Authority for all Change Requests routed to the team
• Coordinating between GPC and other teams
• Prioritizing agenda items for the BRG
• Consult on the general GPC issues
• Communicating to the BRG and to the external community
• Supervising GPC Service Provider
• Coordinating GPC sponsored Work Group activities

GPC Business Requirements Group (BRG)

The GPC BRG is a opermanent group lead by the GPC Leadership Team. Its scope is the technical development and maintenance of a flexible Global Product Classification system. GPC BRG reviews and reaches consensus on proposed additions to be approved by the GPC Leadership Team. A Change Request (CR) initiates each proposed additional Industry Sector Classification requirement. The GPC Service Provider (currently GS1 France link) is responsible for technical support, maintenance and distribution.

GPC Development Work Groups

The scope of an ad hoc GPC Work Group is to develop a new GS1 GPC Classification standard.
