Kick-off Meeting

23 - 24 January 2006, Brussels, Belgium

The Logistics Forum meeting was organized by GS1 Global Office and took place in Brussels, Belgium on January 23-24th, 2006, and gathered some of the major Transport and Logistics companies, Manufacturers and Solution providers including DHL Exel Supply Chain, Schenker, FM Logistics, GEODIS, GTF, Grouppe Heppner, Unilever and others, as well as representatives of GS1 France, Germany and Netherlands.

The objectives of the meeting were to identify the major sector challenges, define potential for market development and agree on the way forward, where collaboration would benefit all participating parties. At the meeting participants addressed the need to define the scope of the Logistics sector, delineate Transport and Warehouse Management; identify vertical sector engagement, such as CPG, Healthcare, Fresh Produce; define which transport modes will be in scope: Road, Rail, Maritime and Air, and propose participation structure from companies and GS1 MO’s to the group.
