Background

The Public Review of The Best Practices Guideline for implementing GDSN Standard on Package Measure Tolerances has begun (See the GDSN Package Measurement Rules Section 6 on Tolerances below). The GDSN Package Measurement Rules replaces the Gen Spec Section 6.8 on Package Measurement Rules as of 10:30 AM EDT on September 19th 2006. The GDSN Standard on Package Measurement Tolerances were eBalloted and approved on August 28th 2006.

These Tolerances are based on Pilots and work done since a Call to Action from November of 2004 by The GDSN Data Accuracy Work Group. There are GDSN Standards on Package Measure Tolerances for five types of Case Level Hard Packaging Type configurations and a unit of measure Standard Tolerance for Hard Packaging Types.

All Best Practices comments that were received during the Public Review period are being resolved by the Data Accuracy Work Group via email exchanges with comment submitters or direct conversations if the comment submitter is not able to attend teleconferences held on Friday September 22nd 2006 and October 6th 2006 at 10 AM Eastern Time.
