Overview

What is the GSMP?

The Global Standards Management Process was created to build and maintain solutions that meet the needs of the actors in the supply chain. We seek to respond to the business requirements of all companies in any industry sector, whether multinationals or SMEs.

Get involved!

Building standards that improve supply chain efficiency is a collaborative effort among all stakeholders. We need your participation to make it work.

Participation is primarily through teleconferences and some physical meetings. Our work is performed by Change Requests (CR). You are encouraged to complete a GSMP application to become a member of a GSMP Group. Once you become a member of a specific group you will receive invitations to our development team conference calls and have access to our repository for standards development work. You are not restricted to a membership in a single GSMP Group.

GSMP standards are global and affect multiple sectors. Your level of participation may vary by change request based upon your organization’s needs without affecting your membership standing.

Once your application is filled out, a GSMP Manager will assist you in getting involved with the group.

Who does what in GSMP

  • Our community contributes to the standards development process by joining one or more of our GSMP Process Groups.
  • New GSMP projects are communicated to the community via Call-To-Actions.

How the GSMP works

The Global Standards Management Process is open and transparent. Users can become involved in the GSMP as a member (with voting rights) or as a participant (without voting rights). Anyone can submit a "change request" to modify an existing standard or to create a new one, and then may take an active role in the development of a solution, or act as an observer as the GMSP does the work.

Properly treating a change request requires a methodology that guarantees a robust, stable and timely solution at the end of the production chain. This flowchart shows the six-step method the GSMP uses to create a standard from a change request.
