Position Summary:

GS1 Overview
GS1 develops and maintains the most widely used identification standards that are fundamental to numerous enterprises around the world. The best-known symbol of GS1 standards is the barcode, named by the BBC as one of “the 50 things that made the world economy”. Four decades ago, we started by helping food retailers do business more efficiently and reduce consumer prices. Today, GS1 standards improve the efficiency, safety and visibility of supply chains across physical and digital channels in 25 sectors, including retail, marketplaces, healthcare, transport and logistics, food service, technical industries and humanitarian logistics. Our scale and reach – local Member Organisations (MOs) in 115 countries, 2 million user companies and 6 billion transactions every day – help ensure that GS1 standards create a common language that supports systems and processes across the globe.

Role Summary
Support the management and facilitation of user driven, consensus based global standard development work groups.  This includes managing and overseeing the functioning of diverse groups of user companies and GS1 Member Organisations.


Facilitate and ensure that GS1 standards are developed according to the process as defined in the Global Standards Management Process (GSMP) Manual. These include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Manage and actively facilitate work groups to: develop, define and drive the group’s scope and strategy to deliver GS1 standards and implementation guidelines
  • Administration of GSMP work groups such as: post agendas, meeting minutes, and other supporting material & communications (follow-up & tracking of action items, etc.) in a timely manner 
  • Work with group Chairs and GS1 team members to prepare for meetings
  • Participate in daily operations of the GSMP Process
  • Ensure consistency in ‘process and compliance’ to anti-trust and Intellectual Property (IP) and GSMP process requirements during meetings, phone calls, emails, etc. 


  • Bachelor or master’s degree with 4 number of years of related experience 
  • Knowledge of the GS1 System and / or the Global Standards Management Process
  • Strong in the following skill sets: Project management, Communication, Team Management, Facilitation, Presentation, Problem Solving, Negotiation, Conflict Resolution.
  • 4 years industry experience a plus

Skills required:

  • Fluent in English, oral and written is mandatory 
  • Demonstrates passion, energy, and drive in his/her work

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word, Zoom.
