Position Summary: 

This job is to conduct audits against the compliance criteria of the Master Data Services and Brand Owner Certification Programme, for GS1 Member Organizations. The role is within the GS1 Global Office and will work intimately with over 100 GS1 Member Organisations around the world to ensure that GS1 brings value to our members and users.

Position Objectives
The position will have responsibility for the execution of on-site data quality audits that advance the GS1 Master Data Services and Brand Owner Certification Programme. This role offers a unique opportunity to understand the services offered by the GS1 Member Organizations and ensure compliance to data quality standards, processes and procedures.  The position is directly responsible for the audit activities and the presentation of outcomes to colleagues and each GS1 Member Organisation being certified.
All work includes updating and improving audit and Programme documents, contributing to building a data quality framework and supporting the head of Data Quality to advance the MDS services offered. This role is responsible to ensure quality audits for certification, through the team’s deployment of the Programme across the GS1 Community.  The auditor will interact and often travel to the GS1 Member Organisations.


  • Responsibility for execution of data quality audits for Master Data Services (MDS) and Brand Owner Certification
  • Collaborate with team members and clients to drive deliverable development and execute strategy
  • Consult with GS1 Member Organisations to help them grow or develop Master Data Services
  • Assess problems critically, structure analyses, apply analytical frameworks, and conceptualize development for successful deployment
  • Coordinate and support progress on existing work/workgroups, manage challenges to schedule, budget, scope, etc. as they arise
  • Sharing expertise with team members through deployment of MDS and support in the delivery of case studies, white papers, learning materials, and other resources to elevate knowledge of solutions, standards, and systems
  • Subject matter expert in data and architecture of product information systems
  • Research, aggregate and analyze data; synthesize large quantities of information; extract meaningful insights and make recommendations
  • Monitor trends and perform market research related to the retail industry and its sub-sectors
  • Assess problems critically, structure analyses, apply analytical frameworks, and conceptualize strategy development

Skills required: 

The candidate must possess:

Motivation to deliver high quality work to drive customer satisfaction in audits. This person uses impartiality and critical thinking to execute audits which will improve services within GS1 Member Organizations according to the audit compliance criteria “MDS and BO Checklist, June 2016” or any updates thereof.

Other requirements include:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in management system audits with major industry companies (e-tailer, retailer, brand owner)
  • Experience in data quality and architecture for data, including software and machine learning tools
  • Ability to communicate and report audits at an executive level, with excellent written and oral presentation skills
  • Ability to work without difficulty in different time zones and with different cultures
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Exceptional planning, communication, technical writing and presentation skills
  • Undergraduate degree required, Professional Degree preferred
  • ISO 9001 lead auditor certification
  • Strong Microsoft Office suite skills: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail
  • Fluency in English, oral and written is mandatory
  • Strong research and analytical skills

  • Additional language fluency, e.g. Spanish, German, French
  • Knowledge of GS1 standards
