Position Summary: 

Today, GS1 is extending its standards and services to empower the industry’s digital transformation to ultimately benefit consumers and patients. As marketplaces, like Amazon, eBay, Bol.com and Alibaba need to find ways to manage their vast product catalogues as effectively as possible, they’re asking online sellers to provide unique identifiers for their products. In this context, GS1 is developing the infrastructure, standards and services to serve the Global Marketplace Community. 

We are looking for an experienced profile to join the team to work on this rapidly growing sector at GS1. The Senior Manager, Marketplaces Programme will contribute to the continued development and deployment of the Marketplace Strategy around the world.

The position will have responsibility for the execution of projects within the GS1 Marketplace Programme advancing the GS1 Global Marketplaces Strategy. This individual will be expected to provide expert input on pertinent business practices, technology implementations, the existing GS1 system and evolution of the GS1 System to support the future business needs of the global Marketplace community.

Responsibilities: 

  • Project management role for key projects of the Marketplace Strategy
  • Collaborate with team members and clients to drive the Marketplace Programme
  • Expand the relevance of GS1 across the global Marketplaces ecosystem
  • Be a voice for GS1 Marketplaces at forums, conferences, public engagements
  • Coordinate and manage forward progress on existing work/workgroups, manage challenges to schedule, budget, scope, etc…as they arise
  • Develop expertise of team members through development and delivery of case studies, white papers, learning materials, and other resources to elevate knowledge of solutions, standards, and systems
  • Increase market knowledge by liaising with the Member Organisations and mapping the Marketplace ecosystem around standards and identification
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with collaborating industries and GS1 Member Organisations
  • Maintain awareness and educate others on industry best practices and business levers for sector offering(s)
  • This job may manage external and internal relationships, i.e., consultants etc

Education/Experience: 

  • University degree  
  • 5+ years’ experience with major E-commerce/Marketplace industry companies, individuals with strong consulting experience in this area will be considered as well
  • Project Management experience (PM certification is a plus)
  • Experience working with globally distributed and diverse teams
  • Familiarity with technology and software development lifecycle, e.g. APIs, SFTP, Product architecture and infrastructure, large datasets
  • Fluent English is a must, oral and written – other languages an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Microsoft Project
