Major Release ECL Updated

The Shared Common Library and the Trade Item Modules Library BMS documents have been updated and published to the GDSN website.  You can find the updated versions of the Shared Common Library and the Trade Item Modules Library (both labeled as 3.1.1) on the GDSN website. Click on the names to access the documents.  The ECL code value updates have been available since September 2015 (Major Release Final) at the following Link. The updates to the BMS documents are merely to reflect these additions.  It combines existing Standards document for users and implementation clarification and no other consequential changes have been made.

GDSN Major Release Frequently asked Questions (FAQ’s) are available on the GDSN website. New and updated Major Release 3 FAQ’s will be posted to the website at the beginning of each month leading up and after the Major Release to assist users with implementation.

Are you ready? GDSN Major Release 3 migration tips

  • Data Pools: Data pools should have a contingency plan  for both a supply side and recipient side to offer key objectives if a delay is projected.
  • Recipients: It is recommended that recipients create a readiness plan with their data pool.
  • Manufacturers: Update your data for the migration using the migration plan issued by your data pool /solution partner and speak to your data pool or solution provider if guidance is required.

GDSN Implementation in Fruits and Vegetables

There is an implementation taking place in the fruits and vegetable sector.  German retailers Edeka is implementing GDSN with two produce suppliers, Anecoop from Spain and Nature’s Pride from The Netherlands.  To view the complete presentation click here also, to view Natures Pride’s updates click here.  The GDSN Trade Item Implementation Guide (TIIG) for Fresh Foods and Fruit & Vegetable is updated for Major Release 3.

Key Milestones 

Above you can find the high level activities that the community should be tracking for the Major Release. The activities above are not definitive but just a recommendation that can be followed, please work directly with your Data Pool for specific milestones for your company.

GDSN Activities

GDSN has launched the 3.1 Beta Environment for Data Pools to begin testing with their communities. For more information about the GDSN Major Release click here GDSN Major Release website

Data Pool  

Data Pools should have finalized or be nearing finalization on Migration Documentation for their Solution Providers.

Solution Provider Activities

Solution Providers should have finalized or be nearing completion on Migration Documentation for their Trading Partners.

Trading Partners Activities 

Trading Partners should be developing their internal data Mapping/ Migration plans based on the Migration Documentation provided by their Data Pool/ Solution provider. Trading Partners should currently be working with their Data Pool and/or Solution Providers to Schedule Testing.

Publications

GDSN Major Release Migration Documentation will be updated as updates are approved for release.  These will be published to the website at the end of each month.  This section of the community announcement will reflect the documents that have been updated and posted to the website along with any upcoming publications.
