GS1 Poland wins 1st prize in the Ekomers competition

On 29th November 2017, GS1 Poland was awarded the 1st prize in the Ekomers competition. GS1 Poland received the award for the SSCC number - a solution that supports the logistics in e-commerce. With this solution, international parcels do not lose their tracking after crossing the border. Also, a single, unique and global number may lead to reduced shipping costs.

A record of over 250 brands participating

This year's edition of the competition attracted a record number of participants. Over 250 brands sent in their applications in 18 categories for service providers and e-shops. Over 23,000 internet users cast their votes. 122 companies made it to the finals after a fierce competition.

In the first stage of the competition users, authenticated with their Facebook accounts, would cast their votes. Participants who scored the highest number of votes made it to the second round, during which a jury named the leaders of all categories. Among else, the jury was manned by: Tomasz Karwatka (Divante), Michal Cortez (Dentsu Aegis Network), Justyna Dziegiec (L’Oreal) and Konrad Latkowski (KSY Group).

"E-commerce is one of the quickest growing areas of economy in Poland. The market's value in 2014 was PLN 28 billion - now, it is already over PLN 36 billion. Year by year the market grows by a dozen percent. This is an important market for us, where GS1 global solutions that support international trade may prove very useful" - comments Agata Horzela, GS1 expert in TSL.
