Excellence in healthcare recognised through the GS1 Germany Healthcare Award

With the second GS1 Healthcare Award, GS1 Germany, in conjunction with the Association Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME), honoured special commitment to healthcare. Awards were given in three different categories.

The district clinics of Esslingen together with leading provider of eHealth & Digital Imaging solutions AGFA Healthcare won the award in the category “Cooperation” for enhancing patient safety by means of a transparent process that shows which medicines have been prescribed and when, as well as identifying any changes to prescriptions. Wilfried E. B. Winzer from the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, Dresden, was named “Entrepreneurial Personality 2016” for his intense efforts in promoting process optimisation in the hospital. The University Hospital Münster was rated best in the category of “Individual Company” for its exemplary process optimisation, including the use of GS1compliant bar codes to significantly simplify documentation.
Agfa Healthcare will be speaking at GS1’s Global Healthcare Conference in Berlin on 4-6 April.
