The Medical Technology Industry Group (MTIG) of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) organised a Medical Device Seminar on Global Healthcare Landscape. GS1 standards in labelling was presented by Tania Snioch from GS1 Global Office, while the 3rd ASEAN Medical Device Committee updates were presented by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA).

Tania Snioch introduced the concept of global GS1 standards for identification, barcoding and information sharing as these apply to medical devices - to help ensure patient safety, enable targeted recalls and achieve overall supply chain efficiency. There was a discussion of the overall healthcare sector movement towards implementation of global standards and the underlying business case. She also shared some case studies and the benefits of implementation.

This event saw about 70 regulatory affairs practitioners and industry professionals from both the private and public healthcare sector in attendance.
