UDI implementation
Melissa Finocchio, Sr. Director Product Labeling & Documentation at BioMerieux shared the company’s UDI journey and key lessons learned.
Melissa’s key messages were to treat this as a company-wide project and engage all the right people in the process. She also mentioned the importance of separating short-term solutions (manual) versus mid/long-term solutions (automated), when possible, to harmonise the GS1 code to all products regardless of UDI status, and the benefit of standard software / equipment / practices across all sites. Finally, she made the point that UDI implementation should be seen as an opportunity, rather than an obligation.
