Michaela Berlich and Hajo Reissmann, from the University Medical Centre Schleswig-Holstein, Lübeck & Kiel in Germany shared their experiences when introducing Master Data Management using the Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN) in their hospital.

They discussed how GDSN for medical devices can help patient safety by enabling logistics and clinical processes at the point of care. However, GDSN implementation also comes with a set of challenges including having suppliers ready to provide data via GDSN as well as data management process and flow between IT systems within the organisation.
